Forget Christmas in July. It's National Ice Cream Month, and Blue Bell is releasing a new, limited time flavor to celebrate.

Monster Cookie Dough Ice Cream is in stores now in half gallon and pint sizes. The flavor features classic vanilla ice cream laced with brown sugar and packed with dark chocolate chunks, candy-coated chocolate morsels and peanut butter monster cookie dough pieces.

“If you have not heard of a monster cookie, it typically combines many of your favorite ingredients from other cookies like chocolate chips, peanut butter and chocolate-coated candy pieces,” Sara Schramm, Blue Bell marketing brand manager, said in a statement. “And, many monster cookies are rather large because of all the goodies packed in one treat. The dough pieces in our Monster Cookie Dough Ice Cream have the same delicious ingredients you find in the cookie.”

The United States has celebrated National Ice Cream Month ever since 1984, when President Ronald Reagan gave July the title. Reagan also made the third Sunday of July National Ice Cream Day, which falls on July 16 this year.
